Did I miss any obvious or up-and-coming ones?

Or perhaps there’s an unfair rank? (don’t lose sleep)

Let me know below!

Update 1 (August 2009):

Here are two new, up-and-coming venture capital blogs (found out through the comments):

  1. http://bothsidesofthetable.com/ – This one seems promising. The author, Mark Suster, is a 2x entrepreneur who grinded it out and had some success before joining the VC ranks.
  2. http://seeingeyetoeye.wordpress.com/ – Also keep an eye out for this one. Mark Suster mentioned this one (see below). The first post I read, “Markets vs. Teams” is damn good. Make sure and check it out.
  3. http://abejma.blogspot.com/ — A unique one delivered by John Abraham. In his own words he’s, “A very successful longtime computer scientist and venture capitalist, educator at world-class institutions and such, I have many interests including what is going on now, technology, magic and such.” Check it out.
  4. http://www.shareholderrep.com/blog — “It’s about the issues involved in mergers between acquirers and VC-backed companies.”
  5. http://www.ansanelli.com/blog/

Update 2: October 31, 2009

thanks for your post;)

Wow – I’m flattered to be on this list, but the company you put me with blows me away!

Thanks for including me with this list of superstars.

Dan Primack August 2, 2009 at

Somehow didn’t see this until now. Much thanks Scott…

Mark Suster August 2, 2009 at

You might want to check out Both Sides of the Table ( http://BothSidesoftheTable.com ), which is my blog. I’m a 2x entrepreneur turned partner in a VC (for Southern Claifornia’s largest VC) having sold my last company to Salesforce.com. I write an entire series called “Pitching a VC” from the perspective of both sides of the table.

Also, Peter Lee of Baroda Ventures has started a new blog. You’d need to look up the address – I’m on my BB.

Thanks for the comprehensive list.

Scott,

Check this one out.

Here’s an addition and an up-and-comer: http://www.shareholderrep.com/blog: Post-Closing Briefs. It’s about the issues involved in mergers between acquirers and VC-backed companies. [Yes, I do PR for the company, but we've worked hard to put some great content up there and we want people to know!]

Joseph Ansanelli August 3, 2009 at

Hi,

My blog is mostly targeted at entrepreneurs having successfully started and sold 3 companies. You can check it out at http://www.ansanelli.com.

Good list overall.

The most interesting new blog related to investments in startup ventures that I have seen is venturepopulist.com.

Scott Austin August 3, 2009 at

Thanks for the helpful list, and putting us at No. 10 – not too shabby since our blog, Venture Capital Dispatch, only launched a few months ago! Although, looking at the list, I’m confused as to why a blog that has only posted four times this year is at No. 5….

ScottDig August 3, 2009 at

@Scott — Like In-N-Out, it’s about quality, not quantity.

Charlie J August 3, 2009 at

The ranking of these sites seems rather odd. What’s the logic here?

Prashant Koirala August 3, 2009 at

Great List!! We recently launched IntangibleInsights.com (2i). Intangible Insights (2i) aims to discuss, assess and foster a better understanding of the valuation and corporate transactions of internet-reliant businesses with an emphasis, but not an exclusive look, on intangible assets. The site is geared towards the middle market where the vast majority of internet businesses thrive and prove their viability.

Sarvesh August 3, 2009 at

If there was only one, which one would it be? How about a Consumers Report type rating – so we may be able to pick the one.

ScottDig August 3, 2009 at

@Charlie You can’t really cite logic in the written word. Remember Dead Poets Society? Oh captain my captain! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8UL_9R_W-Y

@Prashant Sweet. Thanks.

@Sarvesh Sure — I may invest more time into it. Perhaps even making it a permanent page/wiki on here.

Lincoln Nguyen August 16, 2009 at

Great list scott. It was good catching up with you yesterday. I’ll let you know about the next event.

Toan Nguyen Minh August 16, 2009 at

Great list. And I must say your thesis skin is really cool. I’d loved it :D

Hey Scott,

Want to know what’s happening in the entrepreneurial communities in the Rocky Mountain region? That’s the focus of our blog – http://www.highway12ventures.com/blog/

Taylor Brooks October 28, 2009 at

Surprised you didn’t mention Chris Dixon.

http://www.cdixon.org/

He’s not a VC but most of his posts are focused on venture capital, raising funding, entrepreneurship, etc.
