So we feel that An Applicant Tracking System has a great potential of securing a huge market by facilitating HR / Recruitment Managers by formalizing their hiring process. Simplicants aim is spot on: simplicity. You’ll notice in their tag line “Applicant Tracking Made VERY Simple.” This concept is critical. Especially to the HR folks. I’m not saying every HR person is like this, but the one’s that I’ve met have been like doctors or lawyers: they see the computer as a black box. Having a simple learning curve is critical to success in this realm (and many other sectors right now).
Another plus for Simplicant centers on the fact that HR people played a critical role in designing the product. This design will hopefully mesh will with Ruby on Rails’ speed and philosophy of simplicity, which was a great choice for Simpicant to use. I’ve yet to do extensive research; however, I wouldn’t be surprised if the current SaaS available for applicant tracking were like most ERP’s: bloated. Bringing in a 37 Signals style philosophy could easily put Simplicant ahead of their competition.
