One line pitch

FacetoFace Health is a social network that allows users to connect directly with one another based upon medical conditions.

Team

They have over 20 years experience in the healthcare field.

Pain

Interested in Healthcare? FacetoFace Health is a social network that allows users to connect directly with one another based upon medical conditions. All I wanted to do was to talk to someone who had been to MDAnderson and had Lymphoma… Easy right? Think of what we are doing as “match.com for healthcare”

Currently the market is all message boards that offer a post and wait mentality. There is no way on these sites to be directly matched to others with similar health concerns.

Solution

We have built HealthMatch – an advanced algorithm that will match people together based upon their medical condition, medications, etc. We also match people to potential advertisers (revenue model)

Technology

ASP.NET/Web 2.0 – Healthcare engine is based on SNOMED international healthcare taxonomy.

Market

Anyone on the internet with a healthcare condition. Current estimates are that 10% of the people online at any given time are searching for health related information.

Business Model

Advertisers advertise directly to consumers based upon their medical conditions. We charge a PPC to the advertiser if the user clicks on an ad that matches to them. These matching ads are based upon Healthmatch and it’s ability to match people together with similar conditions, medications, treatment facilities, etc. HealthMatch can also do zip/radius matching for general practitioners.

Competition

Other Healthcare social Networks.

Milestones

Marketing, Marketing and more marketing.

Conclusion

If you’ve ever had anyone diagnosed with a chronic condition you will understand how FacetoFace Health can help. Think about putting in Lymphoma and seeing people who have had lymphoma, what treatments they have undergone, what hosptials they have been to, etc. If you’ve never been sick or had a chronic condition you might not get how urgent it is – for those that do, they understand what we are doing right away. Our goal is to Humanize Healthcare, and that’s through providing direct connections for people with healthcare conditions.

VentureDig’s Take:

I’m a big fan of the cause and the need that FaceToFaceHealth proposes to solve. Obviously, medical conditions sits as a niche, specialized market; however, the need for connection in that nich is profound and painful enough for each user to actually adopt/use the service.

The need for constant connection and aid through some medical conditions are critical (i.e. bipolar, alcholism, and other addictions). The use of real-time, private support groups will be a very important and critical area to cover in the near future. FaceToFace may want to think about investing in a private, microblogging platform that supports this real time need. Overall, bravo, and best of luck to them.

I really like this. I think the market potential is significant. Diseases like cancer, depression, diabetes, etc with increasing incidence rates give me reason to believe that if positioned and marketed properly this could take off. A few key partnerships would be my primary focus. I encourage them to look into the Healthcare XPrize – they may be able to compete in that.

Gammill – exactly. Imagine the need for “connection” that people with such diseases need. More than the average person, the need for support is critical, real and necessary for such persons.
