Pain

It’s really painful when searching for some documents on the web by Google or Yahoo because of the complexity of syntax. Additionally, one cannot preview them before deciding to download them.

Solution

DocJax.com is a search engine powered by the mighty search engines Google and Yahoo. It allows Internet users to look up documents and e-books on the World Wide Web with ease and download them for free. Syntax is really simple. It makes your search easier than ever, you can search for all popular document formats (PDF, DOC, XLS and PPT) or you can even limit the format to be searched (like only searching for PDF files).

DocJax.com shows the preview of content present in the documents, you can view the entire document before you decide to download it. VentureDig’s Take

I’m a big fan of the document search space. I think there’s a ton of potential in the area right now. And I’m saying this even knowing that there’s two dominant players battling it out in the space: Scribd and DocStoc.

Where I think the true competitive advantage sits with DocJax is their simplicity-focused format. Once you type in a specific keyword, you’re presented with surprisingly relevant results. Additionally, if you want to preview a document, a nice styled ajax box pops up (I found a couple that were powered/housed by Scribd). I found a couple where something went wrong; however, I believe that’s on the end of the document uploader–or wherever the document is sitting.

Also, view the TED video below from Tim Berners-Lee, the creator of the world wide web. See what he views as the future of the web:

Bottom line: You no longer have to parse your document search between two conglomerates (scribd and docstoc). Although I’m a loyal Scribd user, I really like DocJax’s big-picture aproach. It’s worth checking out. Keep your eye on this one.
